नेपाल टेलिकमले बिहीबारबाट वितरण गर्न शुरू गरेको तेस्रो पुस्ताको थ्रीजी मोबाइल पहिलो दिन नै झन्डै १ सयवटा बिक्री गरेको छ। विश्व दूरसञ्चार दिवसको अवसरमा दक्षिण एसियाली मुलुकमै पहिलो पटक टेलिकमले शुरू गरेको सो सेवा लिन सर्वसाधारणहरू टेलिकमको जावलाखेल काउन्टरमा पुगेका थिए। भिडिओ कल (कल गर्नेको गतिविधि हेर्न मिल्ने), टेलिभिजन हेर्न मिल्ने सुविधा रहने यो थ्रीजी मोबाइल हाललाई काठमाडौं उपत्यकाको भित्री शहरमा मात्र चल्ने व्यवस्था रहेको टेलिकमको मोबाइल सेवा निर्देशनालयका प्रबन्धक बुद्धिप्रसाद आचार्यले जानकारी दिनुभयो। प्रिपेड मोबाइलका रूपमा रहेको थ्रीजी मोबाइलबाट टेलिफोन गर्दा प्रिपेड सरह चार्ज लागे पनि भिडिओ कल गर्दा र डाटा रिसिभ गर्दा भने केही बढी शुल्क लाग्ने प्रावधान रहेको छ। टेलिकमले बिहीबार थ्रीजी मोबाइलको सेट भएकाहरूलाई मात्र सिमकार्ड बिक्री गरेका कारण अधिकांश थ्रीजी सेट नभएकाहरू फर्किएका थिए। थ्रीजी मोबाइलबाट जीपीआरएस सेवा प्रयोग गर्दा प्रतिसेकेन्ड ३८४ किलोबाइटको गति रहने समेत प्रबन्धक आचार्यले उल्लेख गर्नुभयो। अहिले टेलिकमसँग थ्रीजीको १० हजार लाइन वितरण क्षमता रहेको छ। थ्रीजीको सिमकार्ड लिनका लागि ग्राहकले ३ हजार ५ सय युजर चार्ज, एक्टिभेसन चार्ज ५ सय, दर्ता ५०, भ्याट ६५ र स्वामित्व कर ८० रुपियाँसमेत गरी जम्मा ४ हजार १ सय ९५ रुपियाँ तिर्नुपर्छ।

7 May 2007 Kathmandu , Nepal Representatives of Nepal One Television management and the agitating journalists of the same channel came to an agreement today (7 May) at Kathmandu .

The agreement between the representative of the management, Pradeep Roy and representative of the agitating journalists Rebati Sapkota were signed under the supervision of Mahendra Bista, FNJ secretary general, advocate Ramesh Badal, FNJ’s legal advisor, Bishnu Lamsal, general secretary of Labor and Transportation Ministry and Narayan Prasad Regmi, joint-secretary of Information and Communication Ministry.

The demands that have been addressed are, the immediate issuance of contract to its staffers since the date they have joined the organization, implementation of accident and medical insurance and provident fund among others.

Nepal One journalists and employees have been protesting against the management of the television channel with 20 point demand since the last 18 days. They were on a fast-unto-death strike since Saturday (5 May). Those on the indefinite fast-unto-death strike were journalists Raj Kumar Regmi, Rishi Dhamala and Bishnu Kalpit. However, Kalpit broke the strike on the evening of the same day, after his health deteriorated.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala also held a meeting with FNJ president Bishnu Nisthuri and enquired about the ongoing protest. Meanshile Federation of Nepalese Journalists along with Jacqueline Park from International Federation of Journalists showed professional solidarity to the protest at the television’s office on Sunday (6 May).

The other two journalists, Regmi and Dhamala continued their strike until today and broke their hunger strike at around 8:30 in the morning in the presence of Speaker Subash Nembang, FNJ president Bishnu Nisthuri, UML leader Madhav Nepal and other political party leaders. President Bishnu Nisthuri said that the Nepal One Television channel have not been registered in Nepal Government.

FNJ has demanded the government to clarify the legal status of the television channel. The federation has also urged the government to implement Working Journalist’s Act immediately.

6 May 2007 Dhangadhi ,

Nepal Lokshari Kuwar editor/publisher of Morning Bell daily was captured and attacked by a group of indecorous people on 2 May at Dhangadi of Kailali, a far western district of Nepal.

According to Birendra Rawal, president of Press Chautrai Nepal , three hooligans Ganesh Chand, Lalit Kuwar and Prem Kalel beat him brutally. During the attack, he received serious wound on his head, neck and two of his teeth are broken. He is being treated at Seti Regional Hospital .

Rawal said that the investigation of the incident is underway. He also informed that journalist Kuwar might have been attacked as he had disseminated the news related to timber smuggling, prostitution in the area and illegal export/import of goods from the Indian border. Prem Kalel, one of the indecorous person was arrested and is under the custody of ward police.

Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has condemned the incident and has urged the government to find and punish the guilty. The Federation has also urged the government to provide safety and security to the journalists.

6 May 2007 Bardiya ,

Nepal Yuvraj Adhikary, a local correspondent of Radio Nepal , was attacked by the cadres of Maoist aligned Young Communist League (YCL) on 2 May at Kusumba market of Bardiya, mid-western district of Nepal.

Adhikary had reached Kusumba market to collect news about the clash between the security forces and a group of refugees and freed bonded laborers led by YCL. The clash had erupted between a group of armed police force that was deployed at the market for the border security and the group led by YCL. While Adhikary was reporting the news, the YCL cadres hurled stones at him and attacked him with sticks.

They even chased him for about 500 meters. He then ran and locked himself inside a bathroom of a neighbor and thus saved himself. The YCL cadres then reached his home, located near the market, and broke the windowpanes of his house. Adhikary had received threats from the YCL cadres in the past for writing news about them.

According to Yuvraj Shrestha, president of FNJ Bardiya branch, Adhikary has been receiving threats through telephone in the name of YCL cadres saying that they can abduct or kill him anytime.

Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has condemned the incident and has demanded the concerned party to take action against the guilty and provide proper compensation to the victim.

नेपाल समाचारपत्र, (भैरहवा)। गर्भपतनले कानुनी मान्यता पाएको चार वर्ष बितिसक्दा पनि सीमावर्ती ग्रामीण महिला एवम् महिला स्वास्थ्य स्वयम्सेविकाहरू त्यसबारे अनभिज्ञ छन्।अनभिज्ञताकै कारण उनीहरू गर्भपतन सेवा लिन सीमावर्ती भारतीय बजारका क्लिनिक जाने र चर्को शुल्क तिर्न बाध्य हुने गरेको पाइएको छ।नमुना एकीकृत विकास परिषद् रुपन्देहीले जिल्लाका महिला स्वास्थ्य स्वयम्सेविका संयोजकहरूका लागि आयोजना गरेको प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य र सुरक्षित गर्भपतन सेवासम्बन्धी तालिममा उनीहरूले त्यस्तो जानकारी दिएका हुन्।जिल्लाको दक्षिणी सीमावर्ती क्षेत्र मर्चवारका अधिकांश महिला स्वयम्सेविका संयोजकहरूले तालिममा आफूहरूले गर्भपतनले कानुनी मान्यता पाएको विषयमा पहिलो पटक जानकारी पाएको बताए।उनीहरूले ग्रामीण महिलाहरू जानकारीको अभावमा भारतीय निजी क्लिनिकमा गएर ५ हजार भारतीय रुपियाँसम्म तिरेर गर्भपतन सेवा लिने गरेको गुनासो गरे। व्यापक गृहकार्यपछि सरकारले नयाँ ऐन मार्फत विसं २०५९ देखि गर्भपतनलाई कानुनी मान्यता दिएको हो।अहिले महिलाको स्वेच्छाले १२ हप्तासम्मको गर्भ, हाडनाता करणी र बलात्कारबाट रहेको १८ हप्तासम्मको गर्भ तथा आमा र गर्भको सन्तानको जीउधनको सुरक्षाका लागि जुनसुकै अवस्थाको पनि गर्भ सूचीकृत चिकित्सकबाट गर्भपतन गराउन पाइने कानुनी मान्यता रहेको छ।सरकारले सुरक्षित गर्भपतनका लागि रुपन्देहीमा भीम अस्पताल, लुम्बिनी अञ्चल अस्पताल, लुम्बिनी नर्सि· होम, नेपाल परिवार नियोजन संघ र मेरीस्टोप्स सेन्टरलाई सुचीकृत गरेको छ। ती स्वास्थ्य संस्थाहरूमा १ हजारदेखि १ हजार ५ सय रुपियाँमा सुरक्षित गर्भपतन सेवा उपलब्ध छ।दक्षिणी भेगमा अझै पनि गर्भपतनले कानुनी मान्यता पाएको विषयमा जानकारी नभएको कुरा स्वीकार्दै जनस्वास्थ्य प्रशासक रामचन्द्र खनालले भन्नुभयो-’महिला स्वयम्सेविकाहरूलाई त्यसखालको तालिम दिने, सचेत गराउने खालका कार्यक्रम नभएकाले ग्रामीण क्षेत्रका महिलाहरू अनभिज्ञ भएका हुन्।’परिषद्का अध्यक्ष ज्ञानु पौडेलले महिला स्वयम्सेविकाहरूका संयोजकहरू नै अनभिज्ञ भएको विषय सर्वसाधारणसम्म पुग्न नसक्ने भएकाले सचेतना कार्यक्रम राखिएको जानकारी दिनुभयो।उहाँले जानकारीकै अभावमा बढी रकम खर्चेर जोखिमपूर्ण सेवा लिने र महिलाहरूको स्वास्थ्य नै झन् बढी खराव हुने अवस्था रहेको बताउनुभयो।जिल्लाका ६९ गाविसका महिला स्वयम्सेविकाहरू उपस्थित उक्त तालिममा जनस्वास्थ्य प्रशासक खनाल, स्वास्थ्य कार्यालयका स्वास्थ्य शिक्षा प्राविधिक अलिमुद्धिन खाँ, परिषद् अध्यक्ष पौडेल, रोमा भुसाललगायतले सहजीकरण गर्नुभएको थियो।

मुटु रोगले थलिएकी भक्तपुर सुडाल गाविस-४ निवासी सुत्केरी शोभा कार्की आर्थिक अभावका कारण मृत्युसँग लडिरहेकी छिन्। शहीद गंगालाल अस्पतालले उनको मुटुको भल्भ फेर्नुपर्ने र त्यसका निम्ति ३ लाख रुपियाँ लाग्ने जनाएपछि उनी आफ्नो उपचारको निम्ति सहयोग जुटाउन भौतारिंदै हिँडेकी छिन्। सहयोगका लागि सुडाल गाविस भक्तपुरले दातासमक्ष पनि अनुरोध गरेको छ। गत फागुनमा सुत्केरी भएपश्चात् रुघाखोकी र ज्वरो आउने क्रम नरोकिएपछि परीक्षण गर्दा मुटु रोग लागेको थाहा पाएकी थिइन्। उनका श्रीमान् दुइ छोरा गरी चार परिवार छन्। आर्थिक अवस्था ज्यादै कमजोर भएकी कार्कीका श्रीमान् सामान्य किसान हुन्। बिहान-बेलुकाको छाक जुटाउनसमेत धौधौ पर्ने जनाउँदै कार्कीले भनिन्- ‘कसैको सहयोगले मिले मेरो र काखको बालकले पुनर्जन्म पाउने थियो।’ तसर्थ मनकारी दाताहरूसँग नेपाल समाचारपत्रमार्फत हात फैलाएकी छु। सहयोगको लागि नेपाल बैंक शाखा कार्यालयको बचन खाता नं. १९३१६ मा उपलब्ध छ।
